Submitting Your Music to Blogs
Welcome to Blog Post #8!
Today I am going to share a long list of blogs that you can reach out to for music releases. Some are super easy submissions, some are more in depth, but a general rule of things you’d want to include in your submissions (unless guidelines are given) are as follows:
- Intro statement (keep is quick)
- Artist Name
- Members & instrumentation
- Where you are based out of
- Short Bio
- Release date and details
- Music Links and/or download links
- Social media links
* NO ATTACHMENTS!
***Some blogs will offer an option of a premium submission, which is basically a fee that you pay to ensure that your album will be reviewed and posted. Can’t hurt to do one or two of these in order to ensure you’ll get some reviews, but they shouldn’t charge more than $50 in my experience. Always watch out for scams as well! Check out the blog’s following and make sure they’re legit before you send over any cash.
***Another thing to mention, when you are submitting music to blogs, make sure it is new! No older than a few weeks. Get your music to them in advance or as soon as possible to have the best chances of getting picked up.

*use submissions through Musosoup. You have to pay to have your music up and available, but they often have discounts and I paid about $20 to have mine up.*Only take unreleased music at least a week in advance, but you’ll want to give more advance than that for a better chance of getting a feature.

*Use Submithub for singles, but you can send in full EPs or albums via HumanHuman. More info on these below! The Other Side Reviews
& many, many more …
Now, most submissions are done online, however there are still places that take physical submissions. For these, you should mail a copy of your album along with your one sheet, contact page, and notes about the album and singles. Make this look professional and clean. Look up some examples or ask your musician friends for a copy of their one sheet!
Some examples of physical submissions include:

There are also submission hubs that you can sign up for, however these tend to cost some money BUT they can be super helpful to gather resources and credentials. Here are a few of the hubs that I have used in the past.
*This one has a great platform that is easy to use, which allows you to pitch your album or song to music blogs over a 45 day period that they call a ‘Campaign’. You’ll get offers right through the site and you can see who’s been checking out your stuff. Costs some money, but well worth it in your budget!
Hope this helps! Now sit down for a good few hours and submit that music!
